Cookie Policy

This page explains what cookies WarmerBills uses and how to control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are essential for the site to work. Others help us understand how the site is used, or allow advertising to be shown.

Your choice

When you first visit, a banner asks how you want to be treated. You have three options:

  • Accept all — all cookie categories below are enabled
  • Reject all — only strictly necessary cookies are used
  • Customise — choose category by category

Rejecting everything except necessary cookies does not restrict your access to any content on this site. Every article remains fully readable.

You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in our footer.

The categories we use

Strictly necessary

These make the site function — remembering your cookie choice, keeping the site secure, allowing you to submit the contact form. They cannot be switched off, and they do not track you across other websites.

Analytics

These tell us how many people read each article, which pages they arrive on, and roughly where in the world they are. They are aggregated statistics: they tell us an article had 400 readers, not who those readers were.

We use this to decide what to write next and to spot broken pages.

Advertising

We show advertising through Google AdSense, which keeps this site free to read. Advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to show ads and to limit how often you see the same one.

If you consent to personalised advertising, ads may be based on your browsing on this and other sites. If you decline, you will still see advertising — it will simply be less relevant.

Functional

If you subscribe to our newsletter, a cookie may remember that so we do not repeatedly show you the signup form.

Managing cookies in your browser

Beyond our banner, every browser lets you block or delete cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking all cookies in your browser may break parts of this and other websites.

Opting out of advertising cookies specifically

Beyond our banner, you can opt out of personalised advertising directly:

Changes

If we add or remove a cookie category we will update this page and the date above.
